A. The Art Swap is open to registered artist that have shown in a professional manner and are interested in swapping artwork with other professional artist. I use the professional artist loosely cause really what is a professional artist anyway. Just expecting that you have sold your art in a juried show, gallery, coffee house, etc. If you are unsure if you fit in the swap simply email me with some samples. really do not give it too much thought – just enjoy the event.
B. All registered artist are welcome to stay for the buffet pasta dinner. Add a significant other or friend for just $10. Bring your own beverage. It will be a complete meal worth staying for. Welcome to bring wine, beer, soda, etc.
C. Following dinner you also get a FREE ticket to the house concert with Brian Ernst- again anyone you invited to the dinner also is welcome to stay for the concert for FREE and anyone coming later just for the concert there is a suggested donation of $10 which all goes to the Child Wellness Fund’s Lion Missions in Kenya and Kids in Kenya Fund. Basically this is a very very low-key event just to have some fun and fellowship with other local artist and say “Hooraaah” to the end of the year and fresh start to the new one.
Event Overview/Guidelines:
1. Doors open for set up at 5:30pm (we will be there early if you want to come early) swapping starts at 6:30pm.
2. Please make sure your items are tagged with the retail price (a real price, please do not inflate it- recall you are a breathing artist not dead how much can it really be worth) The idea is it is an artist-to-artist swap so please lets make it work and be simple.
3. Do not plan to decorate your table, or make it all pretty! We are swapping!!
4. Pay your $10 online and pre-register. Again it includes your table, dinner and concert.
5. Dress comfy — this is a laid-back event among artist friends.
6. Each swap is done artist-to-artist. So if you swap a $50 piece of art with Sally. Than Sally will go to your table and find a $50 swap. If Sally takes a $75 piece than you need to go back and find another $25 from her table. This will take some flexibility of course and some negotiations. You will need some large pieces as well as some smaller items to clear the balance to zero in the swap.
7. You are able to introduce a third party into the Swap and we will explain this later to help get a zero balance.
8. If you put the art on the table you must be ready to part with the artwork.
9. What can be in the Swap: any art you have created, a few items you may have collected and are ready to part with from other artist, items that other artist might have interest in, such as found objects, paints, canvas, art supplies, etc. Please do not make this a flea market but an artist Swap. But bring items that will be of interest to your fellow artist.
Finally as you can see the rules if we call them that are pretty loose. We see it as we are all adults and expect us to all act like it and be respectful of each other and make it work. Really do we need one person to ruin the whole night per being a butt. We will help in resolving any issues if there are any but really- will we have too?
If you have further questions use the contact page and send us an email. We will reply quickly.
